Beach Landing, Barra

Beach Landing, Barra - Travel
A Twin Otter plane in British Airways livery stands on the beach runway at Barra Airport in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. This airport is unique in using a beach for take-off and landing, and the planes are fitted with special tyres. Flight times are dictated by the tides. This shot was taken in 2008, before FlyBe took over the flight franchise. The plane, G-BVYX, is owned by Loganair. Buy prints of this image here.
